Project Ideas

Team up with one of City Vision’s Community Partners on one of our “Shared Projects”– these Community Partners are urban ministries already working with needy families who would benefit tremendously from your help. These ministries are located in Franklinton, Hilltop, Near Eastside, South Linden, Weinland Park and more. You will be able to adopt a “Shared Project” from our website after September 2.
Widows/Single Parents/Needy/Elderly in your own church or neighborhood – clean their house, do light repairs, rake their leaves, and bless them as needed.
Social Service Agencies – food pantries, homeless shelters, children’s charities, etc – serve their clients or serve the agency itself. Paint, spruce up, do mailings, organize, etc.
Schools and Parks – yard work, pick up litter, decorate the teacher’s lounge, offer a teacher appreciation event, provide school supplies – think BIG!
Nursing Homes/Senior Complexes/Hospitals – visit, play BINGO, read Scripture, organize a sing-a-long, paint nails, make blankets, take kids for a visit, etc.
Homeless – go into the homeless camps and clean trash, pass out lunches, blankets, socks or whatever you have to give, host a picnic – reach out to the neediest of the needy.
Skate parks/Teen hangouts/Kid’s Events – cookouts, bike repair, carnivals, prize give-away – whatever you can think of that kids need or enjoy. Find a location and go to them – make it FUN!
Low-Income Apartments – go door to door with items like light bulbs, toilet paper, smoke alarm batteries, small bags full of staple groceries – a gift often opens the door to prayer/meeting other needs. Have a BLOCK PARTY for entire area at playground or recreation center.
Call your city offices and ask about people in CODE VIOLATION – find a homeowner who is elderly or needy and may just need assistance – mow their grass, paint their porch, haul off some trash.
Go through www.firstlink.org and look for volunteer opportunities, special events, groups that need volunteers, agencies.
