ServeFest Columbus Promotion Ideas

Truly, when we fail to plan we plan to fail. The success of ServeFest will, in large part, rise and fall upon the ability of churches to mobilize their congregations to action. Last time, the churches who consciously kept ServeFest in the forefront through creative and practical promotion realized amazing results. As with any major event, the earlier your people know, the better.

Though we are sure you will add to this list, here are some ideas that could work in any church setting:

1. Set up an information booth in the church lobby to provide details to interested volunteers as well as sign-up opportunities.

2. Share weekly the details of ServeFest Columbus in the church bulletin, web page, weekly newsletter, email groups, etc. during the four-six weeks prior to the event.

3. Involve as many lay people as possible especially through small group involvement.

4. Encourage those who may not be able to attend for some reason to do
the most vital work of prayer prior to ServeFest Columbus and also at the 2007 Prayer Summit.

5. Share testimonies from previous events about the blessing God grants when we give sacrificially.

6. Hand out brochures to members as well as community leaders so they have an idea of what ServeFest Columbus is about. Often area businesses will donate food, beverages or supplies for the workday.

7. Create a Big ServeFest Banner and hang it prominently in the church where it will be seen by each member of the congregation. Display the banner at least four weeks before the event. (www.bannerforless.com 3’ x 10’ banner – $75).
